Kia reimagined its Sedona minivan for 2022 with beefy SUV-like styling, loads of convenience features and a new name — Carnival — but this party is going to cost you. The 2022 Kia Carnival starts at $33,275; that’s $1,700 more than the outgoing 2021 Sedona (all prices include destination).

That price is for the base trim level, called LX; the Carnival will also be available in EX, SX and SX Prestige trims. A 3.5-liter V-6 good for 290 horsepower is the sole engine and, like the Sedona, the new Carnival will be front-wheel drive only. Extra features for 2022 make up for the price increase and include additional standard safety features, more room and an updated multimedia system, among other changes.
Although it’s an increase from the 2020 model, Kia’s minivan is still competitively priced. The revised-for-2021 Chrysler Pacifica starts higher at $36,690, and the new hybrid-only Toyota Sienna minivan is also pricier at $35,635. Honda’s updated 2021 Odyssey minivan starts a smidge lower, however, at $32,965.
The 2022 Kia Carnival goes on sale during the second quarter.
