2018-2019 Mazda CX-5, Mazda3, Mazda6: Recall Alert

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 262,200 model-year 2018-19 Mazda CX-5 SUVs and Mazda6 sedans, and model-year 2019 Mazda3 sedans and hatchbacks

The Problem: A software error in the powertrain control module may cause the engine to stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will reprogram the powertrain control module software for free.

What Owners Should Do: Mazda will begin notifying owners no later than Aug 26. Owners can call the automaker at 800-222-5500, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
