GIIAS 2019: Honda ADV 150 adventure scooter shown
No longer just a rumour, the latest scooter from Honda, the 2019 Honda ADV 150, has made its appearance at the Gaiikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) in Jakarta, Indonesia. Dropping the ‘X’ moniker from its bigger sibling the X-Adv, our colleagues attending GIIAS managed to grab a gallery of photos.
Possibly designed to go up against the Yamaha Aerox, known as the NVX 155 in Malaysia, the full specifications of the ADV 150 are not yet known. What we do know is the engine capacity is 150 cc and will probably be priced at around RM11,000 in the Indonesia market.
As can be seen, the ADV 150 shares the same design concept as the 745 cc, two-cylinder X-Adv and it appears that all the lighting on the ADV 150 uses LED units along with DRLs in front. Being a small displacement scooter, the heavy duty capability of the X-Adv seems toned down in the ADV 150 while still retaining the rugged style of the bigger scooter.
For example, the ADV 150 rolls on 14-inch wheels with 110/80 front tyre and 120/70 rear, with no hand guards, compared to the 17-inch front and 15-inch rear of the X-Adv along with a lower windshield and telescopic forks. Compared to other scooters in this segment the ADV 150 comes with Nissin hydraulic brakes with ABS, Showa suspension and LCD instrument panel.
While we will be updating our article on the ADV 150 as more information becomes available, we assume Honda’s latest scooter will use an engine similar to the Honda Vario which is a single-cylinder, 149.3 cc SOHC unit fed by PGM-Fi and producing 12.9 hp at 8,500 rpm and 13.4 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. From the photos, a CVT gearbox is in evidence along with idling start stop controlled by a switch on the right handlebar.
